Summary:
This Western Waters Fisheries Case Study will cover ICES Sub-Divisions VII & VIII (Channel, Celtic Sea and Bay of Biscay). The Western Waters Case Study will stand within the geographical boundaries of both the North-Western and South–Western Regional Advisory councils (NWRAC and SWRAC).
The fisheries selected are:
- French fleets targeting Norway lobster, hake and sole (small and large scale) operating in the Bay of Biscay
- French gill-netters targeting sole, hake and anglerfishes in the Bay of Biscay
- French gill-netters targeting flatfish and cod in the Channel
- Irish polyvalent trawlers targeting herring
- Spanish Basque purse seiners in the Bay of Biscay
- Spanish Basque mix trawlers in the Bay of Biscay
- Spanish Basque trawlers in ICES sub-areas VI and VII
- English demersal vessels operating in sub-area VII
